Monday, February 18^th:  NO SCHOOL

Tuesday, February 19^th: Genre Connections Analysis, “Zombies.”  Read through the power point so you know what we are doing.  Begin reading the articles.

Wednesday, February 20^th: Genre Connections Analysis.  Read two articles/stories and do an analysis.  Follow the guidelines from the power point, and make sure to fill in the graphic organizer too. 

Information on writing your essay:

**Read both articles and fill out the graphic organizer about similarities and differences.  It isn’t about the story itself, but the writing style, authors, or literary elements.  Look at the articles and notice if you see anything similar about them.  Use this for your thesis.  An example would be: Both authors use first person point of view when writing in order to allow the reader to connect with the work (I made that up, so youcannot use that).  If that is your thesis you will then use that to compare and contrast the two pieces.  It’s not about the articles, but how they are written, or what they are saying.

**The format for your paper is as follows:

Introduction paragraph has the opening and thesis.  Use the packet I gave you to see how you should write.

Two body paragraphs: One can be how they are similar, one can be how they are different.  There must be in text citations in these paragraphs.

Conclusion: Wrap up the paper, and make sure to revisit the thesis without saying it exactly the same

Friday, February 22^nd: Genre Test

Monday, February 11^th: Vocabulary 14.  Choose two words and do a word web for each.

Tuesday, February 12^th: TELPAS Writing  Prompt:  Write a narrative essay about a past event.  Tell about something that happened or that you did that was disappointing, unforgettable, surprising, interesting, funny, enfair, etc.  ( choose one, not all).  Paper is provided.  You must have your full heading, a title, the prompt after the title, and then write 1 full page.

Wednesday, February 13^th: Genre & Subgenre Movies Handout.  Watch movie clips and fill in the charts correctly.

Thursday, February 14^th: Genre Movie Posters.  Choose a movie you have seen, and make a movie poster.  Make sure to follow the rubric.  I have provided the paper.

Friday, February 15^th: Finish Movie Posters.  These are due at the end of class.

February 4-8

Monday, February 4^th: Vocabulary 13.  Write a sentence for each of the vocabulary words.  Do this on the back of the vocabulary handout.

Tuesday, February 5^th: Go over the Genre handout.  This is very similar to the Power Point.  Use this paper for Work Sheets 1,3 & 4.  Do Worksheet 1 today.  

Wednesday, February 6^th: Work through Genre Work Sheets 3 & 4.

Thursday, February 7^th: Book Genres.  Using the 10 book jacket covers, fill in the handout.  Make sure to completely fill this out correctly.

Friday, February 8^th:  Make up Day

**I will be giving you a handout of the power point we went over in class.  This is what you need to study for the test over genre (22nd).
